Why we publish one price list
Hosting pricing became a game of footnotes. Here is the arithmetic behind Klarcloud's four plans and why they do not change at renewal.
Almost every hosting invoice contains at least one number the customer could not have predicted when they signed up. Egress overages, burstable CPU credits, a renewal rate that is quietly double the introductory one, a backup add-on billed per gigabyte per region. None of it is fraud. All of it makes it impossible to answer the only question that matters: what will this cost me next year?
The arithmetic
A Klarcloud host is a dual-socket EPYC machine with ECC memory and NVMe in RAID 10, rented as dedicated capacity in a Tier III facility. Split into the plans we sell, the hardware, power, transit and facility costs land at roughly 55% of the monthly price. Payment processing takes another 3 to 4%. What is left covers support, spare capacity for failures, and the operator's salary.
That margin is comfortable but not spectacular, and it is stable. Because it is stable, the price does not need to rise at renewal to fund an acquisition discount for the next customer.
What we deliberately do not do
- No introductory rates. The first invoice equals the fortieth.
- No per-gigabyte egress billing. Exceed the allowance and we shape the port, then talk to you.
- No paid support tiers. Support is part of the price of the server.
- No charge for snapshots, IPv6 or DDoS filtering.
Yearly billing, honestly
Paying yearly saves you two months on Basic, Standard and Advanced. That discount exists for one reason: it reduces payment processing costs and churn admin, and we pass the saving on. The Dedicated plan is yearly only because the underlying hardware is committed for a year.
If the numbers ever change
If power or transit costs force a price change, existing customers keep their rate for the remainder of their term and are told in writing at least 30 days before renewal, with a free exit if they disagree. That commitment is in the terms of service, not just in a blog post.
